I cannot tell you how difficult it is to get a good capture of mom or dad great horned owl without spooking them & without a ton of debris (branches, twigs, leaves) in front of their faces. This one morning I went looking for momma great horned owl VERY early and I found her in this beautiful tree keeping watch over her fledglings. I love that glimmer of light in her eyes.
I stayed long enough to snap maybe 5 photos and left her be.
I so adore the great horned owl, how they nest just about anywhere and let humans watch them and their children. It is the biggest privilege and blessing.

What a protective look she's giving you. Love the full view....and great hatch of branches. A great one, Heather! L/F
