This is great horned owl Momma of great horned family #2 I have photographed this year. This family of owls was only a 10 minute drive from my home which is such a blessing. Taken in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada
This photo was taken at 10am, which is peculiar as in all my years of owling, Mom and Dad usually feed the babies as the sun comes up or goes down.
She has a rat in which she prepared (she ate the head) for the babies to make it easier to consume.
