This photo was taken last winter. These beautiful great gray owls come from the northern boreal forests every 4-5 years in search of food. They usually stay all winter long. That 4-5 year weight is torture I tell you :) I found more that I had hoped for this time around. I love watching these majestic LARGE owls fly and land on a tree, seeing them use their wings to balance with their talons wrapped around a tiny branch that you wouldn't think could possibly hold their body weight, but it always does.
