Description
The Great Horned Owl family I had photographed this spring/summer in Ottawa, Ontario was quite different than the other 4 families of great horned owls I found this year. This family had 3 owlets. 2 of the owlets always hung out together, snuggling and preening one another while number 3 was always the odd man out, like the third wheel. It actually broke my heart.
They all 3 made it and left the park area far from where any humans could ever find them.

Heather, I have always loved that saying of the 'third wheel'. You have used it so beautifully here with this threesome on the tree branch. Alway a joy seeing your heartfelt images honoring the wonders of nature. F/L.
