The weekend of February 4th I think I seen 4-5 Great Gray Owls. All in different locations. It was heaven on earth! This is the first time we (photographers) have seen a great gray owl with this magical orange coloring around it's eyes. When someone originally sent me a photograph of this owl a week before I visited her, I thought the image edited in photoshop. I couldn't understand why someone would edit an owl to this degree as they are naturally beautiful and don't need any special effects ♥ It was a really dreary overcast day when I took this photo and I didn't see that orange around her eyes until I viewed my photo. I was gasping outloud and freaking out saying "Oh my God, do you see that orange around her eyes" to all the photographers present. I fell madly and utterly in love with her. I sent an email to an amazing owl photographer and he contacted his biologist friend who thinks this orange means they are young owls, around 1-1.5 years old.
I call her "Eye Shadow" because it really does look like she's wearing it:)
This day I photographed this beauty I really over did it with walking, slipping, falling, crashing through snow and ice dozens of times up to my thighs. The end result was severe swelling and pain for 3 weeks, to the point where you couldn't see my knee caps or any ankle bones.
You see, when I see an owl, I get high, mentally, emotionally, spiritually, physically it's the best most soul altering feeling on the planet. I didn't realize how much damage I did to my body until the next day.
