Winters ago I was photographing snowy owls during the 'invasion' we had back in the winter of 2013/2014. It was the most snowy owls I have ever seen during any winter in my life. I will never forget this day. I was photographing another snowy owl about 40 minutes before sunset when a fellow photographer told me to look behind me. I turned around and seen this beauty. By her heavily black (barred markings) and size I knew this was a juvenile female snowy owl. Younger owls are more fearless where as the mature adults are not very tolerant of humans (and I can't say I blame them)
I was amazed by the 5 minutes I stood in such a close proximity with a wild owl. I took a few photos and let her be.
