I will never forget the day I got the text from my friend that this baby owl had left the nest. Eternally grateful I will be forever to my friend who landed me the most magical great horned owl experience of my life.
*Always keep your distance & be mindful when photographing wildlife, especially young owlets*
If the owlet starts to clap it's beak and make himself look huge (by making wings very large and body poofy) you know you are too close and stressing the poor owlet as this is his defense mechanism.
For this shot I used a Canon 7D mark II
Canon L lens 4.5/5.6 100-400mm with 1.4 converter & significantly cropped.
Taken at maximum focal length over 500mm.
Dedicated to Steve, thank you for taking me on this epic journey to find this amazing beautiful owl family.
