The closest I have ever got to a snowy owl.
I find sometimes it can take hours, laying on one's stomach, staying close to the ground, inching up ever so slowly not to spook it is always the best way.
There is NO feeling in the world (to me) that is more soul altering than seeing a snowy owl :)
Today was terribly cold but so worth it:)
I shared the field with this snowy and it was sheer heaven on earth. When she reached for the stars (that's what it looks like) while looking right at me, my heart, it melted into goo:)
